Dear Friends,
Recently we were reminded of the importance of ritual. Margot Anand visited us, and together we played, talked and worked, visioning and co-creating. On our last evening, Margot led a ritual for our small circle -
a ritual to send love to the world, to reaffirm our commitment and
dedication to SkyDancing Tantra, and to be grateful for all we have
been given and shared.
We put a candle in our midst, and with our hands touching, our feet firmly planted on the ground, and the crown chakras reaching to the heavens, we brought our total awareness to the now and the purpose of this moment. Everything else dissolved. It felt so good!
Especially
in these busy and challenging times it is crucial that we make the time
to connect with our essence while being grounded within our body.
Create small rituals - smell the roses, look at the sky, take in the
life that is all round us... meditate 1000 times a day and bring more awareness to each moment!
Much love,

Lokita & Steve Carter

Sexual Benefits of SkyDancing Tantra
by Holly Rawson and Brian Ahern
As
professional counselors and coaches, we regularly sit with couples who
are struggling with their sexual relationship in one way or another. The
seed of their struggle can fall anywhere along the continuum of
relational to sexual. In other words, is the difficulty arising from
conflict in the broader relationship or from specific gaps in the sexual
relating? A great benefit of SkyDancing Tantra is that it effectively
bridges both ends of the continuum.
Our
"Western" training in sexuality, with its goal-oriented focus on orgasm
and techniques toward that end, often sabotages genuinely fulfilling
sexual sharing. We become trapped in our minds, our mental processes
working overtime to figure out what, when, where, and how fast, all the
while keeping score on our own and our partner's level of arousal. After
the brief pleasure of genital orgasm, many people report a sense of
emptiness and disappointment in their feeling of connection with their
partner. Often, this is perceived as a feeling of personal inadequacy in
oneself, or of resentment toward one's partner, when in reality, the
gap lies in the disconnection from the heart.
The
SkyDancing Tantra way of lovemaking teaches us to step out of the grip
of the mind, and grow new awareness and skills that sensitize our entire
physical beings and keep our hearts open and connected. The emphasis is
on being rather than doing. Through awareness of the
breath, relaxation, and the feelings and emotions of our inner world, we
are able to practice staying connected with our own heart center, as
well as our partner's. Thus, no matter what fears and frustrations may
arise, there are simple and effective practices that support us in
addressing these emotions in an integrative way, rather than suppressing
and pretending.
In
"Western" sexuality training, there is a lot of performance pressure
for both men and women. Pressure to be erect, ever-ready, and a stellar
lover oppresses many men. Pressure to become highly aroused and orgasm
easily to protect the partner's ego tempts many women to fake their
experience. :: Continue Reading

Heart Talk-A SkyDancing Tantra Practice
By Crystal Dawn Morris
Our
chakras are energy centers in the body that can be accessed for
information and support. Your heart chakra has its own unique wisdom.
Some people are naturally more attuned to their hearts. They listen to
their heart chakra regularly, while others routinely override their
heart's guidance. The heart chakra is the energy center focused of love,
intimacy, forgiveness and relating.
Conscious Communication
Seated
across from one another, begin with a heart salutation. Palms are
together in prayer position, pointed to the earth. Bring them up to the
heart as you inhale, looking into your partner's eyes, bow as you
exhale, connecting Third Eyes and honoring the Divine within. Next,
create a bubble around both of you- a sanctuary in which to communicate
with each other. Do this by using your arms and imagination to define
the shape of a bubble around both of you. Now, each of you can take
things out of the bubble. Whatever might interfere with the upcoming
practice (past, distraction, anger etc.) Then, bring things into the
bubble that will provide a supportive context for the practice ahead
(love, willingness, presence etc.) Don't rush this process. Then, share
your desires, fears and boundaries (related to the Heart Talk) while
your partner listens without judgment or commentary. Finally,
switch roles and hold space for your partner as (s)he shares their
desires, fears and boundaries.
Why Boundaries?
People
often have resistance to setting boundaries. Boundaries are bridges,
not walls. Intimacy occurs where two people's healthy boundaries meet.
Boundaries are what you require to feel safe, stay present, and to take
care of yourself. Possible boundary topics may include; time, touch,
confidentiality or whatever is right for you. Setting boundaries allows
you to surf your edge. Boundaries are dynamic, so it is important to
check in periodically and update your partner if they have changed. An
example is: "I need to end by 3pm." As 3pm approaches you realize - this
communication is more important than going shopping, you want to revise
your time boundary. Take a moment to communicate what you are feeling
to your partner and create a new agreement so you can continue with
clarity about the new boundary. Learning to stay present and in
integrity with yourself and others is an important skill.
Heart Speak
This exercise is a great way to become aware of your heart chakra's wisdom. :: Continue reading
